If you don't already know Alabama 3, they are the crazy cats that wrote the Sopranos' theme tune. They have the country stylesque toe tapping tunes, that make you wanna get out your best moves. Even if you are still wearing your business jacket from work.

Like a watchmaker, international jewel thief or celebrity stalker, Juliet Dubieniec shows a real dedication to her craft. The three tracks on the Brighton singer/songwriter's aptly named '3 Tracks' ep are all shining examples of finely-spun mature pop music delivered with straight-down-the-line emotional honesty.
Opening gambit "Innocent Man" packs a simple acoustic riff that's clever enough to give it the indie swagger of Razorlight as well as the direct solo style of Joan Armatrading or Fiona Apple. The oblique lyric is delivered with a rich, frank vocal and simple melody and overall the low-key tuneage delivers a quiet punch that can't help but make you sit up and take notice.
The ep's middleman, "Do You Think" is just as pure in terms of melody and single-mindedness, but it ups the musical stakes with some fuzzy beats, crystal-clear piano phrasing and hazy vocal effects - and it's all the more punchy because of it. There's a touch of Alannis in the vocal, but this is a far more tuneful and considered affair than anything done by the bonkers Canadian.
Finally, it's on to a cover. "Fade Into You" is an old Mazzy Star track from over a decade ago, but here Juliet replaces Hope Sandoval's floaty vocal and care-worn psychedelia with an edgier acoustic sound and a more vulnerable, confessional voice. Indeed, if you've had enough of self-obsessed singe/songwriters who think we're all really bothered about how bad they feel about themselves, you could do worse than check out Juliet's Dubieniec's fresh, confident and eclectic sound.
